Fiddes Light Fast Water Stains offer exceptional ease of use and provide a uniform depth of color for all interior wood surfaces. Here are the guidelines for preparing and applying these stains:
Dry Time: Allow 1 hour at room temperature for the stain to dry.
Coverage: The stain covers approximately 16 square meters per liter, depending on the substrate and application method.
Coats: One coat is typically sufficient, but additional coats can be applied to deepen the color or shade.
Thinners: Water is used as a thinner for these stains.
Recommended for Use on: Fine furniture, doors, floors, cabinet work, and paneling.
Preparation: Begin by sanding the wooden substrate in stages, starting with a medium sandpaper (120 grit) and progressing to a medium/fine grade (180-220 grit). Sand in the direction of the grain pattern whenever possible to remove blemishes and glue residue. Ensure that all sanding dust is thoroughly removed. Test the chosen Fiddes Wood Dye on a similar substrate to verify the desired color or shade.
Application: Stir the stain well and check the shade before applying. Use a clean, lint-free cotton cloth or sponge to apply the stain in the direction of the wood grain. Remove any excess stain immediately with a separate, clean absorbent cloth, following the grain pattern. Apply even pressure when applying the stain by hand to achieve a uniform color. Allow the stain to dry without sanding between coats. Additional coats can be applied to deepen the existing color or shade.
