- Surface Condition: Your wood surface must be clean, dry, and free from frost, with a moisture content not exceeding 18%.
- Ready for Application: Osmo Polyx®-Oil Effect Silver or Gold is ready to use and should not be thinned. Stir the product well before use to guarantee a uniform finish.
- Microporous Stains: Address old microporous stains thoroughly. Complete removal is essential for old paints and lacquers. Remember to wear a dust mask during sanding.
- Filling and Sanding: Fill small cracks, joints, or holes with Osmo Wood Filler. Proceed with sanding wood surfaces meticulously. Start with coarse sandpaper, and for flooring, conclude with P120-150; for furniture, opt for P180-240. Before oiling, remove sanding dust with a broom or vacuum.
- Trial Application: Acknowledge the wood’s influence on the final outcome. A trial application is advised, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.
Method of Application for Dark and Absorbent Wood (e.g., smoked Oak):
- Application: Choose from Osmo Flat Brush, Osmo Microfibre Roller, or Floor Brush. Apply the product thinly along the wood grain, ensuring even coverage.
- Spread Well: Work diligently to spread the product well, guaranteeing a uniform application.
- Drying Time: Allow approximately 24 hours for drying under good ventilation.
- Second Coat: After the initial drying period, apply a second coat with clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil for enhanced protection.
Method of Application for Lightly Coloured Wood Species:
- Initial Application: For visible effects, apply Osmo Wood Wax Finish Black 3169 thinly along the wood grain with Osmo Floor Brush. Spread well and rub into the wood with a single disc machine.
- Drying Time: Allow at least 24 hours for drying with proper ventilation.
- Apply Silver/Gold: Apply Osmo Polyx®-Oil Effect Silver/Gold thinly and quickly with Osmo Floor Brush. If necessary, remove excess with a lint-free cloth or Osmo Easy Pad.
- Second Drying Time: Allow at least 24 hours for drying under good ventilation.
- Final Top Coat: Apply a very thin top coat with clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil to complete the process.
