This wood finish is suitable for a variety of wood surfaces. Its microporous nature ensures that the surface remains breathable and prevents issues such as cracking, peeling, flaking, or blistering. Wood Wax Finish is also resistant to common liquids like wine, beer, cola, tea, fruit juice, milk, and water, according to the German DIN 68861-1C standard, which means it won’t leave water spots.

Furthermore, the dry finish of Osmo is safe for humans, animals, and plants. It is resistant to saliva and perspiration according to the German DIN 53160 standard and is suitable for children’s toys according to the EN 71.3 standard, ensuring a high level of safety.

To prepare the wood surface for applying Osmo Wood Wax Finish, please follow these steps:

Ensure that the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from frost, with a maximum moisture content of 18%. Remove any dust or debris.
Osmo Wood Wax Finish is ready to use and should not be thinned. Before use, stir the product well to ensure a consistent mixture.
Thoroughly clean any existing microporous stains on the wood surface. It is important to completely remove any old paints or lacquers. During sanding work, it is advisable to wear a dust mask for protection. Fill small cracks, larger joints, or holes in the wood using Osmo Wood Filler.
Carefully sand the wood surface using coarse sandpaper. For flooring, use final sanding grit P120-150, and for furniture, use grit P220-240.
Before applying the wood finish, remove any sanding dust from the surface by sweeping or vacuuming.
If possible, it is recommended to apply the first coat of Osmo Wood Wax Finish to all sides of the wood before installation.</li><li>The finished result can be affected by various factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, it is always advisable to perform a trial application, especially on unfamiliar surfaces.

Methods of application for Osmo Wood Wax Finish:

For transparent color (one coat): Use Osmo Flat Brush, Oil Finish Applicator Fleece (Hand Pad Holder), or Microfibre Roller. Apply a very thin and even coat along the wood grain, spreading it well. For a subtle stained effect, apply a thin coat with a lint-free cloth and wipe away cleanly and evenly within 20 minutes. Ensure good ventilation during drying.
For intensive color (two coats): Use Osmo Flat Brush or Microfibre Roller. Apply a very thin and even coat along the wood grain, spreading it well. Ensure good ventilation during drying. Apply a second coat, also thinly.
Note: For larger areas, a scraper can be used to coat the surface, followed by rubbing it in with a white pad.

Important considerations:

For mechanically loaded areas like flooring, it is recommended to apply a maximum of one coat and a thin top coat of clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original. For white flooring, a top coat with lightly white-pigmented Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints 3040 White is suggested.
Intensive color applications (two colored coats) are generally not recommended for flooring due to the risk of applying too much product.
