This base coat is designed to provide extensive water repellency and protection against various wood-related issues.
Water Repellency and Protection: Osmo WR Base Coat 4001 is specifically formulated to offer extremely high water repellency. It also provides resistance against blue stain (caused by wood-inhabiting fungi), rot, and insect attacks. This makes it an excellent choice for protecting exterior wood surfaces.
Swelling and Shrinkage Reduction: The base coat is designed to minimize wood swelling and shrinkage. This feature can contribute to the longevity and stability of the wood, especially when exposed to varying moisture levels.
Single Application: A significant feature of this product is that only one application is needed as the initial first coat. There’s no need for additional recoating in the future, which can save time and effort in maintenance.
Recommended Use: Osmo WR Base Coat 4001 is best suited for vertically structured exterior wood surfaces, particularly softwoods. Softwoods are often more susceptible to moisture-related issues, making this base coat beneficial for their protection.
Coverage: The coverage of the base coat is estimated to be around 5-6 square meters per liter with a single coat.
Dry Time: The base coat typically requires a dry time of 12 hours after application. This is the period during which the product cures and becomes fully effective.
Number of Coats: You have the flexibility to apply 1, 2, or 3 coats, as needed. The total number of coats must be equivalent to 160ml per square meter.
Recoating: Once the base coat is applied as the initial first coat, there’s no need to recoat in the future. This speaks to the long-lasting protective capabilities of the product.
