- Thoroughly clean any old microporous stains. Remove any old paints and lacquers completely. During sanding, it is advisable to wear a dust mask. Fill small cracks, larger joints, or holes in the wood using Osmo Wood Filler.
- If possible, apply the first coat to all sides of the wood before installation.
- Carefully sand the wood surface. Start with coarse sandpaper, and for flooring, perform final sanding with P120-150 grit. For furniture, use P220-240 grit. Remove sanding dust from the surface using a soft brush or vacuum cleaner before applying the finish.
- Keep in mind that the finished surface’s appearance is influenced by various factors, including the wood’s condition. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct a trial application, especially on unfamiliar surfaces.
The application of Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin can be done using different methods such as brushing, wiping, dipping, or spraying in an enclosed unit. Follow the steps below for application:
First coat:
- Apply the finish thinly along the grain using an Osmo flat brush or lint-free cloth for furniture.
- Ensure the wood surface remains wet for approximately 30 minutes to allow the wood to absorb the finish.
- Avoid letting the product dry on the surface. After 30 minutes, wipe away any excess product with a lint-free cloth.
- If there are unsaturated or thirsty areas, reapply the finish and wipe away any excess before drying.
- Provide good ventilation during the drying process.
Second coat:
- Follow the same process as the first coat, ensuring a thin application.
- Avoid covering the surface during drying and curing.
- After 2-3 weeks, the surface will be fully cured.
Recommended number of coats:
- For furniture, one coat is usually sufficient.
- For flooring and worktops, it is recommended to apply two coats.
For renovation works, one coat applied to a clean and dry surface is typically enough.
