Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection is a clear or transparent, satin wood finish designed for interior use. It possesses a wax-like character and offers UV protection to guard the lignin in the wood against harmful UV radiation. This protection helps to greatly reduce the natural yellowing of wood and preserves the natural, lightly colored wood tone for a longer time.

In addition to its UV-protection properties, Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection provides other beneficial features. It is stain-resistant, water-repellent, and abrasion-resistant, creating a durable surface that is pleasant to the touch. The microporous nature of the finish allows the wood to breathe, preventing issues such as cracking, peeling, flaking, or blistering.

Furthermore, Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection is safe for humans, animals, and plants. It is resistant to saliva and perspiration, complying with the German DIN 53160 standard. It is also suitable for children’s toys according to the EN 71.3 standard.

To prepare the wood surface for the application of Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection, please follow these guidelines:

Ensure that the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from frost. The moisture content should not exceed 18%, and the coating temperature should be at least +10°C.
Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection is ready to use, so do not thin it. Before use, stir the product well to ensure uniformity.
Thoroughly clean any old microporous stains from the wood surface. Completely remove any old paints or lacquers. It is recommended to wear a dust mask during sanding works.
For very resinous woods like Larch, degrease the surface with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner.
Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection should only be used on raw wood surfaces. If necessary, sand the wood again using fine sandpaper.
Generally, wood treated with Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection only requires cleaning and recoating.
Keep in mind that the final result of the finished surface depends on various factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, it is always recommended to perform a trial application, especially on unfamiliar surfaces.

Now, let’s move on to the application method:

Using an Osmo Flat Brush, apply Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection thinly, quickly, and evenly along the wood grain. Ensure thorough spreading of the product.
Alternatively, you can use a spray coating method for application.
Allow the first coat to dry for approximately 3-4 hours under good ventilation.
If necessary, lightly sand the surface with fine sandpaper (grit P360) before applying the second coat.
After drying, apply the second coat thinly and quickly.
For renovation works, usually one coat applied to a clean and dry surface is sufficient.
