Surface Preparation:
- Ensure that the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from frost. The moisture content should not exceed 18%.
- Osmo Polyx®-Oil Anti-Slip is ready to use and should not be thinned. Stir the product well before application.
- Thoroughly clean any old microporous stains and completely remove old paints and lacquers. When sanding, it is advisable to wear a dust mask. Fill small cracks, larger joints, or holes in the wood using Osmo Wood Filler.
- Carefully sand the wood surface starting with coarse sandpaper and progressing to flooring grit P120-150.
- Before applying the oil, remove any sanding dust from the surface using a broom or vacuum cleaner.
- It’s important to note that the finished surface can be influenced by various factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct a trial application, especially on unfamiliar surfaces.
Method of Application:
- Using an Osmo Flat Brush, Floor Brush, or Osmo Microfibre Roller, apply the Polyx®-Oil Anti-Slip thinly along the wood grain and spread it evenly.
- Allow the first coat to dry for approximately 8-10 hours, ensuring good ventilation in the area.
- After the initial drying period, apply a second coat of the oil thinly and evenly.
- When renovating previously oiled surfaces, usually one coat applied to a clean and dry surface is sufficient.
- Please note that Osmo Polyx®-Oil Anti-Slip cannot be evened out with a single disc machine.
