Raw Linseed Oil is a highly regarded product used by furniture restorers and fine cabinet makers due to its natural properties and ability to enhance the beauty of wood. It is derived from the seeds of the Flax plant and has been used for centuries as a wood finish.

When applied to wood, Raw Linseed Oil creates a warm and durable finish that enhances the natural beauty of the grain. It provides a natural lustre that brings out the richness of the wood, giving it a timeless and authentic appearance.

One of the advantages of Raw Linseed Oil is its ability to penetrate deep into the wood, nourishing and protecting it from within. It helps to preserve the wood by preventing it from drying out and cracking over time.

It is important to note that Raw Linseed Oil has a relatively long drying time, typically ranging from several days to a few weeks, depending on factors such as temperature and humidity. During this drying period, it is crucial to ensure proper ventilation and avoid exposing the treated surface to dust or contaminants.

Due to its natural composition, Raw Linseed Oil is non-toxic and safe to use. However, it is flammable and should be handled with care. Additionally, it is recommended to dispose of any rags or applicators used with Raw Linseed Oil properly, as they can pose a fire hazard due to the oil’s drying properties.

Overall, Raw Linseed Oil is a preferred choice for those seeking a traditional and long-lasting finish for their wood furniture and projects. Its warm and natural lustre, combined with its nourishing and protective qualities, make it a popular option among professionals and enthusiasts in the woodworking industry.

Coverage:

A single application of Fiddes Linseed Oil will cover approximately 20-24 square meters per litre, depending on the density of the substrate being treated.

Application:

Ensure that the area to be coated is well-ventilated during and after the application process. It is always recommended to test the product on a small area before applying it to the entire surface. Fiddes Linseed Oil does not require a primer and can be applied directly.

First Coat:

Thoroughly stir the contents of the can before and during use. Apply the Linseed Oil thinly and evenly using a high-quality bristle or synthetic brush, following the direction of the wood grain. Immediately remove any excess oil with a cloth, ensuring that no areas are left with an excessive application. Allow the first coat to dry for 10-12 hours in a warm, dry, and well-ventilated room, preferably overnight.

Second Coat:

Apply the second coat in the same manner as the first coat, applying it thinly and allowing for good ventilation. Let the second coat dry for 10-12 hours in the recommended conditions, or overnight. Clean the applicator with White Spirit after use. It is important to note that new interior timber may require three coats, while exterior timber may require four coats.

Renovation:

To renovate a surface previously treated with Fiddes Linseed Oil, lightly sand the area with 150 grit sandpaper and reapply the Linseed Oil according to the application instructions mentioned above.

Maintenance:

For regular light maintenance, clean the treated surface with a damp cloth and wipe it dry. If soiling or staining becomes apparent, reapplication of the Linseed Oil may be necessary, following the application details provided.

It is important to follow these instructions carefully to achieve the desired results and maintain the quality and appearance of the wood surface.
